Welcome to the official website of Pakistan Association of Medical Laboratory Sciences (PAMLS). The first ever platform in Pakistan for the Medical Laboratory Scientists/Medical Technologists. PAMLS welcomes all the Medical Laboratory Sciences students, teachers, practitioners and research fellows (Research scientists).

A Medical Laboratory Technologist is a highly skilled scientist having associated knowledge of different branches of diagnostic sciences including Microbiology, Hematology, Clinical Pathology/Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology , Serology and Exfoliative Cytology.

A bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences was introduced first time in Pakistan about four decades ago. Initially it was started in Jinnah Post Graduate Medical College (JPMC), Karachi in early 70s,  but the program was stopped after three to four years. After a period of few years, again bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences was started in the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad and  Shaikh Zayed Federal Post-Graduate Medical Institute (SZFPGMI), Lahore in early 90s. In the beginning of 21st century The School of Allied Health Sciences Children's Hospital & Institute of Child Health Lahore, and few more institutes started the bachelor degree and the number of institutes producing B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology tremendously increased with in few years in various teaching hospitals. In 2006, an evolutionary revolution happened in this field when first time in Pakistan a Public Sector University, University of Health Sciences (UHS), Lahore started Post Graduation in Medical Laboratory Technology WITH Research in one of the specified fields of Medical Laboratory Sciences. Moreover, This Evolutionary process progressed to summit when all the institutions upgraded two years B.Sc. degree to four years B.Sc. (Hons.) Medical Laboratory Technology in 2008. All over the Pakistan around 30 institutes have been established so far. Now hundreds of Medical Laboratory Technologists/Scientists are graduated from various institutes every year all over the Pakistan.
